Have you ever had the experience that life is supporting you so much, that it feels almost magical? That things happen without effort, so much in flow, and that just the right people seem to show up for you? Have you?
I had this experience recently, and it felt so incredibly good and natural, that I wanted to hold on to that feeling really badly. That’s what we naturally do as humans, right? When something feels good, we try to hold on to it (because what if we would lose it again..?).
But over the years, I have learned to just enjoy these moments in all intensity, and not to mess with the flow of a possible higher purpose. My spiritual mentor Dr. Wayne Dyer, used to say: “Be open to anything and attached to nothing”, and that’s exactly what I have been practising for quite some years now, and it feels very exciting and so liberating.
The universe doesn’t know any limitations, so why would we try to hold on to a good experience then? There’s so much more available to us. We would only limit ourselves from other future experiences.
When we live our life consciously – we might even have a dream or a goal – and it’s something that’s in our awareness most of the time, we feel amazing when we can focus on this. It gives us energy and it becomes so purposeful to us. I think that this is what happened with me here.
Hungry to connect with the heart
I’m just back from a short but intense trip to Bogotá, Colombia, hosted by a woman I met during last year’s retreat in Costa Rica. She was really inspired by how I helped people make a deeper connection with the heart, and the science that explains this concept and experience.
After the retreat, she had asked me if I was willing to lead a retreat in her hometown, Bogotá. Before we knew, we had developed the perfect plan together. Thank you Sylvia, for fully trusting me to pull this off, and for your endless dedication.
I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, genuinely caring and hungry audience. They were very hungry to connect with, and embrace the qualities and intelligence of their hearts. And there’s a very good motivation for that desire. This beautiful country has suffered from significant political and social instability, that has resulted in decennia of unrest and violence. Healing on many levels is therefore much needed.
The power of healing
Despite the difference in language, culture and experiences, the participants made me instantly feel I was one of them, without hesitation. The deep learning and sharing, the warm South American hugs (and kisses), the release of deeply rooted emotions, and the fearless embracing of the, often unusual, experiences that I offered them, were all the foundation for a powerful healing process.
– On a side note, to all my female friends here in Canada that I hugged in the last 2 weeks: That extra kiss you received from me, was because my mind and heart were still in Colombia, and it wasn’t meant to embarrass you. –
Over the years, I have learned that in order to create significant and lasting change, we need to involve the body the most. Our body is an instrument of, and a gateway to our own consciousness, and by using it in particular ways, we are able to break through layers and layers of emotional pain or even trauma. And that’s exactly what we did (as you can see)!!
Honestly, I didn’t want to leave at the end of five intense and beautiful days in Colombia. I was riding a high I had not felt before, and I wanted to stay in their presence. But then I reminded myself: “Dirk, you’re open to anything, but keep practising to be attached to nothing. This is how you stay in the flow that allowed you to create this experience in the first place.”
With a warm and full heart, I travelled back to Canada. The next day, I received an invitation to come back to Colombia this year. I realized that the hungriness wasn’t over yet, and my detachment was apparently approved by the universe (with a wink). It felt like the universe was whispering in my ear: “Keep coming from your heart, don’t get attached to anything, and stay humble in the process.”

I want to sincerely thank all of my friends and new family, who so much believe in the mission that I’m on. Thanks to you, I am able to do what I currently do. It feels amazing to have your support and to have you on my side.
Today, after attending the ‘Coherence of the Heart’ workshop with Dirk Terpstra, I feel very grateful because I was able to consciously create coherence in my heart for the first time. It was very emotional. The fear disappeared completely and an incredible strength emerged.
This feeling has now become a memory, and I know I can access it whenever I choose to. Communication with my family has improved, but also in interpersonal relationships in general. I am communicating from another place, more connected to my heart – It’s a wonderful gift! I know I have to keep practicing the heart coherence so that it becomes my natural way of being and acting. A close hug from the heart to you!
The experience with Dirk in the recent workshop held in Bogotá, was an awakening to another reality. His way of being and approaching each heart, was subtle and loving, while he led us to the possibilities of being happy and in peace, far away from the daily stress.
Far from a physical experience, this was a mystical one. We found a bridge that led us to new sacred and deep dimensions, those that unite with divinity and co-creation.
Starting with conscious and slow breathing, we are able to reach that lost paradise in the labyrinth of ego and fear.
Dirk handed us a marvelous and simple tool – the tool that allows us at any time of the day, to consciously choose the space for love, that can let us experience an abundant and balanced life, in which coherence prevails, where you ultimately become ‘One with the Universe’.
We’ve been raised to want, dream, accumulate, grow and manifest. The more we do, the more we accomplish. Despite that, I’ve seen more unhappy people, living unfulfilled lives than ever before.
Why do you actually listen to the voice of reason? To the voice of fear and doubt? Why is it so hard to become quiet, fully submerge yourself in this present moment and enjoy it to the fullest?
Is it because you pay more attention to what is expected of you by others? Or is it because you’ve never allowed yourself to feel the amazing vibes that the present moment can hold?
Forced to do nothing
Recently, I was forced to do nothing. I had to lie flat on my back. For about a week. And even after that week, I was carefully moving around, most of the time in pain.
It was one of the most profound experiences ever!
In the work that I do, it’s not too hard to sometimes start losing the grander scheme of why I’m doing this work in the first place.
My desire and passion to serve humanity are very strong and profound. This drive is not fuelled by personal interests or ego. It’s driven by something larger – let’s call it the call of the universe.
And the universe keeps offering me insights and messages, and I’m very open to receive and share them. If… I choose to stay balanced and whole.
I needed to slow down for a while and listen more. What a gift! I could have started complaining or becoming fearful. But I knew better, and thank God I listened.
What if now is enough?
While I could only BE there and not DO anything, I listened even more. I clearly heard that it was time for me to embrace more of my infinite creativity and enjoy life even more, just as it’s being offered to me, in the moment – every day.
Several hours each day, I visualized moving around in a strong and balanced body, with such a joy. I did this because I know that my cells (all 50 trillion of them) are listening – 24/7. This process was so much fun! Together with the caring support of a physiotherapist and an acupuncturist, I starting moving into an upgraded version of myself. At least, that’s how I see it.
Can you imagine how I had felt when I would have chosen for fear, frustration, anger or being impatient?
Do you believe that life supports you? That the intelligence that once created you, is the same intelligence that’s always available to heal you? If the answer is ‘yes’, why do you worry then?
What if ‘now’ is not only enough. What if ‘now’ is the only moment that holds the intelligent power to change something? Anything you want! Will you listen, or do you think that you’re smarter than life itself?
This study was recently published in the ‘Scientific Reports’ section of ‘Nature’. Nature is a British multidisciplinary scientific journal, first published on 4 November 1869.
This long-term study examined relationships between solar and magnetic factors and the autonomic nervous system (ANS) responses to changes in solar and geomagnetic activity.
The impact of nature on our well-being
Heart rate variability was recorded for 72 consecutive hours each week over a five-month period in 16 participants in order to examine ANS responses during normal background environmental periods.
Heart rate variability (HRV), which is the measurement of beat-to-beat changes in heart rate, is used as an indicator of ANS function and dynamics. Use of HRV has substantially increased in recent decades in research and clinical treatment applications
Overall, the study confirms that daily ANS activity responds to changes in geomagnetic and solar activity during periods of normal undisturbed activity and it is initiated at different times after the changes in the various environmental factors and persist over varying time periods.
Increase in solar wind intensity was correlated with increases in heart rate, which we interpret as a biological stress response. Increase in cosmic rays, solar radio flux, and Schumann resonance power was all associated with increased HRV and parasympathetic activity. The findings support the hypothesis that energetic environmental phenomena affect psychophysical processes that can affect people in different ways depending on their sensitivity, health status and capacity for self-regulation.
It appears that sharp or sudden variations in geomagnetic and solar activity as well as geomagnetic storms can act as stressors, which alter regulatory processes such as melatonin/serotonin balance, blood pressure, breathing, reproductive, immune, neurological, and cardiac system processes.
Geomagnetic disturbances are associated with significant increases in hospital admissions for depression, mental disorders, psychiatric admission, suicide attempts, homicides and traffic accidents. Disturbed geomagnetic activity can also exacerbate existing diseases and is correlated with significant increases in cardiac arrhythmia, cardiovascular disease, incidence of myocardial infarction related death, alterations in blood flow, increased blood pressure, and epileptic seizures.

You and I have been growing up in a society where we’ve been told that we don’t have much control over our own health. When we get sick, it’s often bad luck and we then need to go see a doctor, who will look after us (and hopefully makes us better).
Yes, of course we know that exercise and a proper nutrition contribute to a healthy lifestyle, but there’s a substantial difference between a knowing and actually living it. Our lives these days, are designed around instant gratification, quick fixes and many hours spent in front of a computer or television screen. We seem to have lost the deeper connection with our own body, and this has lead to a global struggle in healthcare.
Dr. Tanja Redelinghuys, who has a master’s degree in family medicine, and who teaches medical students in British Columbia, told me:
“I see a lot of beautiful people struggle with anxiety, stress and depression in my office every day. According to the Mayo Clinic, 13% of Americans take an antidepressant. Of the women between the ages of 50 and 64, nearly 25% take an antidepressant. I don’t think we are faring much better here in Canada.”
And then she continues:
“The question remains – do these medications really work? A study led by Dr. Irving Kirsch of Harvard Medical School in 2008, showed that treatment with an antidepressant for mild-to-moderate depression was almost no different from placebo and, in severe depression showed only a little effect.”
Third leading cause of death
Through the use of reparative surgery, conventional (allopathic) medicine can create miracles in healing physical trauma. However, it has become evident that its pharmaceutical approach to managing pathologies, such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, has led to conventional medicine being the third leading cause of death in Australasia, the USA and Canada.
The cause of this failure was already revealed nearly a hundred years ago, when quantum physicists recognized the Universe was only made of one ‘thing’: Energy. In this new perspective, matter is strictly an illusion created by photons of light. The principles of quantum physics provided a scientific foundation for the philosophy and practice of energy-based, complementary healing modalities, including chiropractic, acupuncture, and homeopathy, among others. Integrating quantum physics with the new field of epigenetics also provides insight into the communication channels that link the mind-body duality.
Epigenetics explains how our beliefs and emotions, are the primary mechanisms that control cell behaviour, genetic activity and the creation of our body’s conditions, ranging from health to disease. And this perfectly matches the results of a recent study – 80% of all primary care doctor visits are related to stress (yet only 4% receives stress management help)! When I discussed the results of this study with Dr. Redelinghuys, she immediately agreed and was quick to add that this number was maybe even higher in her own practice.
In my work with people who suffer from (severe) post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), I know very well how our emotions (trauma) are immediately linked to the cell behaviour. The majority of my clients are medically being treated for hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, adrenal fatigue, headaches and chronic pain (including fibromyalgia).
Talk to the subconscious
When I tried to explain epigenetics recently, to a group of people who are dealing will chronic pain, some got really upset and one told me: “I am quite positive and I don’t have many negative emotions, but I do suffer from chronic pain.” It’s not that simple of course, and what most people don’t realize is that most emotions that run through our body are not even noticed on a conscious level. And there also lies the key to the solution – we have to use tools and techniques that directly communicate with the subconscious part of our bodies.
And this is exactly related to the work I do – we use the body as an instrument of our own consciousness. In other words, we use the body as a bridge between the subconscious part of ourselves, and our conscious awareness. What we often forget is that when something is ‘wrong’ with us, that the other 98 or 99% of us is still whole, and that whole part exactly knows what to do to bring order in an unbalanced body. Our system is innately intelligent.

Magic usually comes alive in Disney movies or in the hands of a famous magician. We often tend to think that magic only happens in our fantasy and in our dreams, but you might think twice about that.
Speaking about dreams, it’s actually my belief that magic starts exactly there – By having a dream! You can’t see it, feel it or touch it yet, but in your mind’s eye, your vision becomes so real and so clear, that this dream becomes your new reality. I therefore tend to think that magic is purely a shift in perception. And if that is true, it opens many doors to new and exciting possibilities.
It was on April 10th of this year, when I first met with Josep Soler. Josep is an international lecturer, NLP teacher, healer and neuroscience researcher from Barcelona, Spain. I clearly remember that after talking with him for about half an hour, he told me: “Dirk, you are one of the first persons here in North America who truly understands the essence of my work.” It was indeed beautiful to hear that so much of the work that I do, is directly linked to what Josep has been doing for over the last two decades.
After having participated in two of his workshops in Kelowna, it was clear to me that we could create even more magic when combining our experience and passion. Before we knew, we were dreaming up this beautiful and transformational retreat in Costa Rica. I saw us literally all sitting together in a large gazebo by the Pacific Ocean. I could hear the waves crashing on the beach while we were doing the work with the participants. I could feel people’s emotions change and watch them step into a new reality and transform. It was beautiful!
Within three weeks, the program was ready and we started sharing and promoting it. By early November, the retreat was full. We had both male and female participants from Canada, Central and South America, ranging in ages between 27 and 75 years. Every single person with their very own unique reason to be there. Here are some of the areas that Josep and I covered during this 5-day retreat:

According to ancient teachings and to modern science, we have seven energy centres in and around our body. Just see them as electromagnetic fields, but they are actually more like biological fields which include very many types of spectral energy. In addition to that, there is a specificity about the energetic functions which cannot be defined electro-magnetically or in any other way. In other words, there are energies that cannot be defined according to the known laws of physics today.

The three lower energy centres are mainly related to our emotions, and the upper three are being used when creating intentions, when we visualize and start dreaming.
When Josep and I started dreaming and setting intentions for the retreat, we activated the upper three energy centres (we taught people how to do that during the retreat).
The information in these three areas becomes then highly orderly (also called: coherent). We then started experiencing strong emotions related to our intentions. We could literally feel, see and smell everything that was happening during that week. We now activated the three lower energy centres in our body. And the cool thing about this is, that our body cannot distinguish the difference between something that we vividly imagine and deeply feel, and something that is actually happening.
This is also one of the main reasons why so many of us can experience suffering for extended periods of time. It’s the same process but now in the opposite direction.
The moment you begin to master this process, something magical starts happening – The energy centre between the three upper and lower centres, which is the area of the heart, becomes very active and coherent, and a strong feeling is being experienced. The human heart emits the strongest electromagnetic field in our body. The quality of this feeling is so powerful that it will literally attract actual events that exactly match the feeling you just experienced. The answer to this process can be found by applying the laws of quantum physics.

Magic for You
Since I was mentioning magic (purely a shift in perception), how open are you to create magic in your own life? How open are you to let go of old beliefs, and start creating a new reality based on the latest scientific findings?
You know what the hardest part of this new process is? To admit to yourself that things might be different than you have always believed. We have the tendency to defend our own beliefs, even if they are handed to us by our parents or teachers, maybe 40 years ago. Mark Twain used to say it beautifully: “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure, that just ain’t so.”
Josep and I have decided to organize more retreats in 2018. We already started blocking rooms in Costa Rica for December 5 – 10, 2018. Times are changing. Quickly. And while times are changing, it’s time for us to change as well.
In case you didn’t realize that we live in challenging times, you might not have been paying much attention to what is happening around you. Or you have developed creative coping mechanisms in order not to feel it. And you are not alone.
Every day, I meet people who are trying to manage their day-to-day, often busy, schedules while feeling overwhelmed with the stressors they are being exposed to. It seems like most of us have some kind of personal challenge going on these days.
On a global scale, we’re fighting never-ending wars, scandal after scandal is being exposed, racial tensions are growing, the climate is changing quickly, and mass shootings are becoming the new norm.
To me, it feels like we are being drawn into this downward spiral, and most of us feel a victim of their circumstances. But to help you better understand why things happen this way, I like to bring in some very interesting science for you.
The science of interconnectivity
If you have been at one of my events, you might have heard me explain how the earth’s magnetic field has an immediate influence on your personal electromagnetic field, which is mainly generated by your heart. You can also check out my HeartMath page to learn more about this.
There are many global research bodies that are currently looking into scientific data to gain new insights into the interconnectedness of human/animal health and behaviour, and the sun and earth’s magnetic activity. The scientific community is just beginning to appreciate and understand the deeper level of how we are interconnected. We are getting closer to understanding why and how magnetic fields generated by the sun and the earth, affect human health and behaviour – and why it is important to know this.
The idea that the earth and the sun influence human health and behaviour and, on a larger scale, social unrest and significant global events, has been discussed among scientists for decades. The study of interconnectedness, which is not yet fully embraced in the mainstream scientific community, is still in its infancy.
It is well established though, that the resonant frequencies in the earth’s various magnetic fields directly overlap with those of the human brain, cardiovascular and autonomic nervous systems. Therefore, it should not surprise you that many physiological rhythms in humans and global collective behaviours are not only synchronized with solar and geomagnetic activity, but that disruptions in these fields can have challenging effects on human health and behaviour.
When the earth’s magnetic field environment is disturbed it can cause sleep disturbance, mental confusion, unusual lack of energy or a feeling of being on edge or overwhelmed for no apparent reason. Every cell in your body is bathed in an external and internal environment of fluctuating invisible magnetic forces.
Time to change
Before you start thinking that we are therefore basically powerless victims of this magnetic field, listen to this.
All humans have brain and heart frequencies overlapping the earth’s magnetic field resonances. We not only are receivers of physiologically relevant information, but we also literally create a feedback loop with the earth’s magnetic field and therefore feed information into this global field environment. How cool!
Life therefore is not just about you! We might live in a seemingly egocentric world, where feelings of separation seem to be more common than feelings of being connected, but it’s the healthy human connections that help transform this planet. Emotions such as compassion, care, gratitude and appreciation are not just very healthy for yourself, they support everyone in the global field environment.
I invite you to start tapping into your own truths, values and innate wisdom. It’s time to change! Independent of what you see out there, you have the capacity to transform your own life, and therefore have an impact on the lives of others as well. But you have to start with yourself first. Does that make sense now? You came here with the power and intelligence to shine and not just to survive!
